Willem Gerritsen studied Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, however upon graduating he decided to become a filmmaker. He started a production company and began directed commercials, corporate films, and music videos. As a commercial director he has made commercials for global brands such as Heineken, Disney, LG, Booking.com and MasterCard. 

He won the Young Director Award in Cannes in 2008, two bronze Cannes Lions for his work on TomTom and Hi-Tec, as well as an ADC award, multiple Epica’s, a D&AD award and Eurobest awards. The CFP in New York selected him for the Young Guns 2011 as one of the most promising talents in the creative industry worldwide, a prophecy that has turned out to be truthful. 

Besides commercials, Willem also makes TV series and films and is represented by UTA in Los Angeles. This experience has made him even more skillful in storytelling and bringing characters to life in his ads.
