TULSI

Tulsi Shivaanand is a Writer and Director based in London. She studied at the University of the West of England completing a BA in filmmaking and since graduating her short films have successfully navigated the film festival circuit, winning Best British Short at the London Independent.

With a background in theatre and art Tulsi works with high concepts, bridging the gap between drama and fantasy by intertwining dark surrealist elements within her films. She uses abstract ideas to create heightened worlds through intense sound, bold production design and styling. With a highly visual approach to filmmaking she takes inspiration from the late renaissance period meticulously painting light and shadow within her frames.

As a British born Indian her work focuses on conflicting identity and physicalising her characters' internal battles. Ultimately storytelling lies at the heart of her creations and pervades through all aspects of her projects.
