The more we grow, the more responsibility we feel

When Papaya Films entered the film and advertising production market in 2006, we were a group of passionate enthusiasts eager to challenge the status quo. That challenge shaped us - and with more than 19 years of experience in the industry, we’ve learned that it’s not only about bold ideas, but also about seeing the bigger picture. That’s why, as the first in our field, we began addressing Environmental, Social and Governance issues, striving to inspire the industry and lead by example in the production sector.

Below are just some highlights of what we do - projects built systemically, tested in action, and adapted along the way.

Diversity

+

We are based in Warsaw, London, New York, and Lisbon, working across multiple time zones and cultures. Our projects often take us far beyond our office walls - we collaborate with production companies around the world, from large-scale commercial shoots to unique projects in places as remote as Nepal.

Having always believed that the best talent is found in unexpected places, our diversity is what makes us who we are. It’s this unique blend of backgrounds, voices, and opinions that adds depth and nuance to everything we create, making us a more dynamic and inclusive company.

Papaya Internship Programme

+

In 2022, we launched our internship programme, a 6-month journey to dismantle barriers and provide experience for students and recent grads entering the industry. Interns get hands-on experience across film, advertising, and social campaigns. The programme is open globally and built around DEI values. Each year, we welcome 2-4 new interns, many of whom continue working with us after completing their internship.

Code of Ethics & Modern Slavery Statement

+

We have a clear Code of Ethics that applies to everyone involved with Papaya Films, on set, in the office, and across our entire supply chain, including subcontractors. It sets the standards for how we treat people and do business, without compromise.

Each year we also publish a Modern Slavery Statement and actively check that no one working with or for us is being exploited, underpaid, or forced to work in unsafe conditions.

Whistleblower Procedure

+

We implemented an anonymous, electronic Whistleblower procedure in 2022, a first for our industry. The policy extends to all employees and subcontractors.

The goal is to catch and prevent problems early. However, when issues do arise, anyone involved in our projects can confidently report concerns or misconduct at any stage without fear of retaliation. This procedure helps us maintain transparency, trust, and a safe, fair working environment for everyone.

Partnerships

+

We are actively shaping the industry by driving ESG forward through projects and partnerships. We’re involved in the industry’s ESG initiatives and have proudly signed the Diversity Charter at the Responsible Business Forum. We're also a part of Green The Bid, and the UN Global Compact - initiatives that help us make real and measurable changes in how we work.

AdGreen Carbon Calculator

+

In 2024 we’re proud to rank 3rd globally in using the AdGreen Carbon Calculator and have held SuperUser status for two years running. This tool helps us measure direct and indirect energy emissions on every production, giving us clear data to track our carbon footprint and take real steps to reduce it.

The ESG Academy

+

In 2024, we launched the first edition of the Papaya ESG Academy, a free, invite-only program for our key production partners, from equipment rentals to postproduction companies and transport teams. Across a series of webinars and a climate workshop, we focused on practical ESG know-how. The first edition is complete, but more are on the way, because real change in production happens together.

ESG Reporting

+

In 2022, we released our first ESG report - not out of obligation, but because we wanted to see clearly how our work affects the planet, our people, and the way we run things. With help from our own ESG team and outside experts, we set practical goals like tracking CO₂e on every production and openly acknowledged areas for improvement. Being open and always learning is how we keep moving forward and constantly work to elevate our standards and impact.
